It's safe to say, there's nothing else on Vancouver Island like this Relais & Châteaux member. The Mediterranean-inspired villa was designed and decorated by an Austrian hotelier with gobs of money and unlimited self-confidence. For some, it's the very picture of paradise; for others, the result is a tad over the top. The setting -- on the forested slopes of the Malahat -- is certainly spectacular, and the view out over Finlayson Inlet is unsurpassed. Inside, no expense has been spared. Dior duvets sit atop gargantuan four-poster beds, and amenities include CD players, bathrobes, and fresh-cut flowers and chocolate truffles. King-bed suites have balconies, fireplaces, and Jacuzzi or soaker tubs. Facilities include a helipad; a spa offering a variety of treatments; and an outdoor wedding chapel. Most guests also sample the excellent cuisine in the dining room . Note: Smoking is not permitted.
