Opened in 1913 and owned by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, this is the grandest accommodation in town. The 12-story Italian Renaissance structure in the heart of the city is a showcase of marble, coffered ceilings, carved walnut, oak paneling, original artwork, and genteel service. Guest rooms have merited an International Gold Key Design Award. Each unit has mahogany reproduction furniture and built-in cabinetry, original artwork, and double-glazed windows. They are spacious, luxurious, and have sitting areas. Most of the fabrics, fibers, and fittings are made of the latest DuPont products.
