The Cape Pines is in Buxton/NC on Hatteras Island North Carolina.Hatteras Island is a 40 mile long barrier island which is part of the Outer Banks/ OBX of North Carolina. A single two lane highway/ NC route 12/runs the length of the island and continues north through Nags Head/Kitty Hawk/and Corolla/NC.Hatteras Island is a rather remote location accessible via route 12 from the north or via the NC Ferry System via Ocracoke Island from the south. Hatteras Island is largely undeveloped and most of it represents the Cape Hatteras National Seashore national park. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse/located in Buxton/along with miles of beautiful sandy white beaches/including Cape Point/are hightlights of the area. No nationally branded fast food restaurants or liquor by the glass is available on Hatteras Island.

Norfolk/VA International Airport ORF is the closest major airport located 3 hours by car from Buxton/NC. Washington/DC is a 6 hour drive by car via Norfolk/ Virginia Beach/VA and Richmond/VA. There is also an airport strip in Frisco/5 miles from the Motel/which can accommodate small/private planes. Car rental can be arranged in advance from the mainland.
