This hotel already boasted newly furnished rooms, done in bright colors and with granite bathroom counters, when the owners announced a plan to demolish an entire wing and rebuild it with 47 brand new rooms. If all goes as planned, that work will be complete in 2005. What I was able to see prior to that work showed standards familiar to corporate travelers, with reasonable amenities provided in solidly built, perfectly clean rooms. Service is professional. The location, right across from the ferry dock, is distant from the downtown sights, so you'll need to rent a car or use the courtesy van that the hotel offers.
The Landing Restaurant, a fountain and grill with lots of chrome, is a local favorite. Lunch and dinner range from $7.25 to $25. You can order from that same steak and seafood menu upstairs, at Jeremiah's bar, which also serves sandwiches, pizza, and good pasta in a sumptuous room; the nonsmoking area is glassed off and not smoky.
