If you are going to stay in Ernakulam, this luxury business hotel, which sits right on the harbor's edge and has its own jetty, is by far the best option. Standard guest rooms are comfortable, with high ceilings and firm mattresses; bathrooms feature showers instead of tubs. For an extra $10, you get a view of the harbor, so make sure you do. Also overlooking Cochin's busy port is the popular Bubble Café, a cheerful eatery in a glass-enclosed terrace with tables arranged around a brightly tiled fountain mosaic.
