This resort runs a close second to the Hyatt , which is more expensive and offers more facilities. The Westin lies right on the sands on Seven Mile Beach and has acres of landscaped grounds, a beautiful swimming pool, and lots of sports facilities. The bedrooms are in five-story wings; most have French doors leading onto balconies. Units are a bit small for such a luxury hotel but are well equipped with quality mattresses and bed linens. Bathrooms are very spacious, with oversize marble tubs. The best rooms have ocean views; the "island view" units simply look out on the parking lot and main highway, so ask carefully when you reserve. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available.
The most upscale of the restaurants is Casa Havana, a dinner-only gourmet restaurant that evokes the glamour of pre-Castro Cuba. One of the largest pools and poolside decks (450 sq. m /4844 sq. ft.) in the Caymans is appealingly lined with palm and date trees. Swimming pools, designed as lazy ovals or lagoons, flank the north and south sides of the hotel, each with its own cascade/waterfall. An 18-hole championship golf course, The Links at Safehaven, is across the street.
