The sleek and modern Delta St. John's, built in 1987, is located downtown near City Hall and caters largely to businesspeople. It lacks the views and the ineffable sense of class that you'll find at the Hotel Newfoundland, but it has nice touches like ship models in the lobby and a handsome pool table as the centerpiece of the lounge. It also is well located for prowling the city, and features a number of amenities that choosy travelers will appreciate, such as hair dryers and coffeemakers in all rooms; management also runs a number of children's programs and offers babysitting services. The attractive restaurant off the lobby offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily; the dinner menu is Continental with a Mediterranean touch, and features dishes such as seafood casserole, shrimp brochettes, and beef in various incarnations.
