A modern, boxy, 10-story hotel overlooking the harbor, the Prince Edward Hotel is part of the Canadian Pacific chain and has all the amenities expected by business travelers and upscale tourists, including coffeemakers, hair dryers, free exercise bikes delivered to your room, and even cordless phones (in about half the rooms). You enter the hotel to a two-story atrium, home to a very well-regarded restaurant, then head up to the guest rooms. The better rooms are furnished with reproduction Georgian-style furniture; others have those oak and beige-laminate furnishings that are virtually invisible. Higher rooms have better views; there's a premium for water views, but the city views are actually nicer and you can usually still glimpse the water. The in-hotel Selkirk restaurant might be the city's best, with upscale service and presentation to complement a fine menu. Summers only, a more informal restaurant serves tasty lunches on a patio near the harbor. For fun, try out the golf simulator.
