With a prime downtown location right on Main Street, the dramatic 395-room Hyatt soars into the sky and above its competition, as the most elegant of the downtown chains. A former office building, it's now a French Renaissance-style structure -- with its spectacular glass-topped lobby and sizeable rooms. Since it's connected to the convention center, it attracts a business-focused clientele, but its location makes it a great option for the leisure traveler, too. Rooms, though uniformly decorated, aren't cookie-cutter at all, since designers had to transform them from variously shaped offices. Comfy and spacious, the bedrooms have a brand-new feel to them; grab one above the 8th floor facing Lake Erie and you'll get the added bonus of a fantastic view. Their excellent steakhouse, E. B. Green's, is also reviewed.
