This luxurious, full-service lodge offers a warm and friendly atmosphere. Opened in 1982 under the direction of Stein Eriksen, the Norwegian 1952 Olympic gold medalist, the hotel retains the Scandinavian decor and charm of his original plan. The lobby is most impressive, with a magnificent three-story stone fireplace fronted by an elegant seating area. There are 13 rooms in the main lodge, with the remaining units in nearby buildings. The connecting sidewalks are heated, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped, with aspen trees, manicured lawns, and flowers cascading over rock gardens and retaining walls. The spacious deluxe rooms, each individually decorated, contain a king or queen bed, plenty of closet space, a whirlpool tub, vaulted ceiling, and tasteful, solid wood furniture. The one- to five-bedroom suites come with all sorts of amenities. The three large mountain chalet-style townhouse suites each have a stone fireplace, full kitchen with service for eight, and private deck. Rooms receive newspaper delivery, turndown service, and twice-daily maid service in winter and VCR/DVD players are available to rent. There are nature trails, a conference center, a ballroom, secretarial service and valet parking.
The lodge offers two dining venues. The Glitretind Restaurant serves three meals daily (New American). Troll Hallen Lounge, open from 11:30am to midnight, offers an extensive beverage service and light meals, with hors d'oeuvres or fresh shellfish from the oyster bar available for aprés-ski.
