Just a 10-minute drive east of Brattleboro in New Hampshire, this attractive inn sits in a field just off a busy state highway, but inside it's more quiet and refined than you'd imagine. The original farmhouse dates back to the 1780s, but has been expanded and modernized and today has a casual contemporary sensibility with antique accents. Nine guest rooms are located in the main inn, and six in cottages nearby. All are spacious and comfortably appointed with a mix of modern and antique furniture. Eight have wood-burning fireplaces, and two have gas fireplaces. The two priciest units feature fireplaces, double Jacuzzis, and a private deck with mountain and meadow views.
